Infamous bikers gang leader Om Prakash alias Bunty, who spread terror in Delhi [Images] by allegedly shooting and robbing people, was killed in a gun battle with the police early on Monday morning.
One of his associates, Rajesh, was also killed in the police action in Badarpur area of south Delhi at around 5.30 am, while three policemen -- Inspector Surender, ASI Ashok Tyagi and Constable Virender -- suffered bullet injuries.
The action came after police received information that Bunty and his associates were hiding in a building in Badarpur locality, a senior police official said.
"On seeing the police team, the accused started firing from inside and in retaliatory firing, two were killed," the official said.
Three imported pistol, four country-made pistols, live cartridges and two spring actuated knives were recovered from the spot, the official added.
Bunty and Rajesh were absconding for the past few months while three other members of the gang were arrested by the police on August 1.
Bunty earned notoriety for his daring robberies, along with his gang members, as they used to terrorise their victims by targeting them with firearms.
Three members of bikers gang arrested in Delhi
Bunty faced over two dozen criminal charges and carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head.
The bikers gang first hit the headlines when its members gunned down Sonu, a property dealer, outside his Sangam Vihar residence on July 5.
Earlier this month, the police had arrested three members of the gang, who had killed five people in four recent shootings in the capital.
Nasir alias Zakir, Rakesh and Mushtaq were arrested from same Badarpur area when they went to meet the wife of one of their friends on August 4.
Police said the gang killed two friends � Ashneet Singh and Harjeet Singh - at Amar Colony near Lajpat Nagar on July 11. Barely a few minutes later, they shot dead Sanjeev Suri near the Andrews Ganj crossing, when one of the stolen bikes ran out of fuel.
The very next day the same members of the 'Bunty gang' shot Naresh and Pawan in South Delhi's Dakshinpuri area.
They were also involved in the murder of a cyclist on the highway near Pilikhva in Uttar Pradesh [Images] on June 10.
The Bunty gang was also involved in over a dozen robberies like the Sarita Vihar petrol pump robbery, the TV showroom robbery in Kalkaji, the Defence colony robbery, the Amdbedkar Nagar robbery and others in the national capital and NCR region.
